In many cases, computer users have found it difficult in handling problems related to their hard disks. Laptops generally are the most affected types of computers due to their portability. With the daily advancing technology, several individuals tend to move towards the laptop technology and most of them have come up with problems affecting laptops.
It is a fact that millions of people lose their data in a day due to various reasons of computer complications. Studies have shown that over 2000 computers fail daily in Kenya only! I just wonder what could be the figure world wide.
Laptop freezing could be as a result of several factors. Mainly, laptops freeze when they have been infected computer threats such as Trojans or viruses. I believe this is the first suspect that comes into a user’s mind whenever his machine starts misbehaving. This is not the only cause of laptops freezing. The machines that we use, frequently overheat when they have been used for quite a long time (note that this time depends on the quality of your computer see your computer designer for more information on the quality of your machine) one might question why should a laptop overheat yet it has got an inbuilt fan? Well, computer fans have been designed to rest in a given position. It is not advisable to let your laptop rest at an angle more or less 180o (degrees). The reasoning is so obvious, the angle at which air enters and leaves the computer.
When the processor overheats, its performance definitely goes down and the whole system becomes slow. This may cause your machine to freeze but this should not worry you. Simply shut down the machine sometime, and then resume your work. Either ways, once your system starts to behave in a manner that you don’t understand, it might just be the beginning of hard drive crash pains. Therefore it’s advised that you backup your relevant data and let a technician check on your machine.
Another frequent reason for computer crash is the rate at which people drop their laptops. A drooped laptop is likely to crash as you actually tamper with the physical structure of your machine. Many laptop users have been seeking for solutions as to why their laptops make some funny noise. What actually makes the noise is the read/ write head of the hard disk. Note that this is one of the symptoms of a failing hard drive or already fallen drive. What happens is that, the platters of the drive are spoilt and as the read/write head struggles to read from it, comes into contact with the surface of the platters which is a serious problem. The other reason could be that the actuator which helps to move the read/write head is spoilt and the head is loosely attached to hence as the platters rotate, the head touches the surface of the platters hence some funny noise made from the hard drive.
Such problems on the hard drive are usually resolved by replacing the read/write head of the failed disk with a similar one that is functional. This requires highly skilled person and this is how technicians recover data critical problems on the storage device.
